The Sawtooth project is a creative response to the growing demand for workforce housing in Gunnison, Colorado. This rental housing development, located in the City of Gunnison, began with 18 single family units built in 2023, all of which were fully occupied by early 2024. Targeting households with incomes between 80% and 130% of the Area Median Income (AMI), the second phase of the project includes a 32-unit, deed-restricted apartment building, offering studio to 2-bedroom units. What makes this development unique is its use of geothermal and solar technologies to significantly reduce utility costs for renters. Fading West not only supplied the homes for this project but also handled site construction and general contracting services—another excellent example of our vertical integration at Fading West!
